Cases treated by Cardiac Surgery

We understand that undergoing heart surgery can be a significant decision, and we are committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care throughout your journey. Our department manages a comprehensive spectrum of cardiac surgical cases, including:
  • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG): Surgical revascularization to bypass blocked coronary arteries using grafts from the patient's own body (saphenous vein, internal mammary artery, radial artery).
  • Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass (OPCAB): CABG performed without the use of a heart-lung machine for selected patients.
  • Minimally Invasive Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (MIDCAB): CABG performed through small incisions, often using robotic assistance.
  • Redo Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery: Surgical intervention for patients who have had previous bypass surgery.
  • Aortic Valve Surgery:
    • Aortic Valve Replacement: Surgical replacement of a diseased aortic valve with a mechanical or biological valve.
    • Aortic Valve Repair: Surgical repair of a malfunctioning aortic valve, preserving the patient's own valve whenever possible.
    • Ross Procedure: Aortic valve replacement using the patient's own pulmonary valve.

  • Mitral Valve Surgery:
    • Mitral Valve Replacement: Surgical replacement of a diseased mitral valve with a mechanical or biological valve.
    • Mitral Valve Repair: Surgical repair of a malfunctioning mitral valve, often the preferred approach to preserve heart function. This includes techniques like annuloplasty, leaflet repair & chordal repair.
    • Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Surgery: Valve repair or replacement performed through small incisions.
  • Tricuspid Valve Surgery: Repair or replacement of the tricuspid valve for conditions like tricuspid regurgitation or stenosis.
  • Pulmonary Valve Surgery: Repair or replacement of the pulmonary valve for congenital or acquired conditions.
  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI/TAVR): Collaboration with our Cardiology Department to offer minimally invasive aortic valve replacement for high-risk patients.
  • Aortic Aneurysm Repair (Thoracic & Abdominal): Surgical repair of weakened & enlarged sections of the aorta to prevent rupture. This includes open surgical repair & endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR/TEVAR) in collaboration with vascular surgery.
  • Aortic Dissection Repair (Type A & Type B): Emergency surgical repair of tears in the wall of the aorta.

  • Surgical Repair of Atrial Septal Defects (ASD) & Ventricular Septal Defects (VSD): Surgical closure of holes between the heart chambers.
  • Repair of Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO): Surgical closure of an abnormal opening between the upper chambers of the heart when indicated.
  • Surgery for Tetralogy of Fallot: Complete surgical correction of this complex congenital heart defect.
  • Surgery for Transposition of the Great Arteries: Surgical correction to restore normal blood flow.
  • Other Complex Congenital Heart Lesions: Surgical management of various other congenital heart defects in adults.
  • Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Implantation: Surgical implantation of mechanical pumps to support the function of a weakened heart in patients with advanced heart failure, serving as a bridge to transplant or destination therapy.
  • Heart Transplantation: Evaluation & surgical transplantation of a healthy donor heart for patients with end-stage heart failure.
  • Surgical Ventricular Restoration (SVR): Surgical reshaping of the left ventricle to improve heart function in selected patients with heart failure due to previous heart attacks.
  • Surgical Resection of Benign & Malignant Cardiac Tumors: Surgical removal of abnormal growths within the heart.
