Overview
Dr. Ahmed Hegazy – Consultant Cardiologist – and Dr. Nayef Asiri – Consultant Interventional Cardiologist – published a case of a young male patient who was diagnosed with Behçet's disease after suffering an acute myocardial infarction (heart attack). The research showed that the patient carried the HLA-B51 genetic marker, which reinforces the link between the disease and the heart. The patient was treated with catheter intervention and the implantation of drug-eluting stents, along with the use of corticosteroids and colchicine to improve his condition.
